The life of an artist in this unfortunate capitalistic hell-scape is truly a difficult but rewarding experience. It’s really hard to feel like we can share art while valuing our time and not charging a ton of money. The idea of ACEO’s is not ours to claim however we love embracing the idea. Deciding to spend 30 minutes vs. 3 hours vs. 3 days in some cases on a single art card and then auctioning it for mere dollars is how we reclaim ourselves as artists.
We got started right away with random art supplies we had around the house. Bobbi is what you would call a dragon of crafts sitting a top a hoard of art supplies for nearly every project. So all we had to do was dig in a bucket of paper and markers to find some stuff to start. Next thing you know we’re laminating card backers with authenticity that we designed and drew digitally in the computer and keeping them safe in a double sleeve usually meant for regular trading cards.
We started a brand new ebay account and posted all the cards for one week long auctions , and hoped that anyone out there would find and love our art. Very quickly we saw views and bids roll in and we got giddy as heck! Lifelong artists finally feeling like our art was reaching real people. While it might just be for dollars here and there we have seen a lot of people make much more! Ultimately we are just happy to be inspired and to share our art in a more accessible way!
